News #018 (Facebook)

What’s the difference between HTTP and HTTPS? The “S” stands for secure, and it helps to protect your connection to a website. When you click a link from Facebook or Instagram, we are now adding this S to links that we know support it, to help keep you safe online.
By upgrading our link security infrastructure to include HSTS preloading, which automatically upgrades HTTP links to HTTPS for eligible websites, we will improve people’s security and will also often improve the speed of navigation to sites from Facebook.
We hope that this change will provide a significant benefit to people looking for quicker and safer browsing experiences. More details about this change can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/notes/protect-the-graph/upgrades-to-facebooks-link-security/2015650322008442.
